Meeting in 5 minutes. Chaotic day. Zero time to sit 20 minutes with eyes closed. But you have 1 minute. And 1 minute well used changes the state of the mind.
1-Minute Meditation (Emergency Reset)
- Stop what you are doing
- 3 deep breaths -- inhale 4s, exhale 6s
- Notice the body -- feet on the ground, hands in your lap
- Mental phrase -- "I am here. Now."
- Return to activity
3-Minute Meditation (Quick Recharge)
- 1 minute -- controlled breathing (4-6-8)
- 1 minute -- observation of surrounding sounds (without judgment)
- 1 minute -- internal silence (just existing)
When to Use
- Before an important meeting
- After a stressful situation
- In traffic (when stopped, obviously)
- Between tasks to reset focus
- Before bed, if you do not have time for more
Why It Works
The nervous system responds quickly to conscious breathing. In 60 seconds, cortisol already starts dropping and focus improves. Not a miracle -- physiology.
Express Meditation Does Not Replace Formal Practice
Express meditation is a band-aid. Useful in the moment. But real transformation comes from [consistent daily practice](/blog/meditation-daily-practice) -- 10, 15, 20 minutes a day. Use the quick version as a supplement, not a substitute.
