Jonas Masetti
Vedanta Ācārya · Director of Vishva Vidya Organization

“I began my journey when I was 22 years old. I never imagined I would become a Vedanta teacher.
At that time, I had just graduated from IME, as a mechanical engineer, and worked in the financial market. It was a productive life, but at some point a call awakened in my heart to understand the purpose of this life. Because a life of excessive work and burnout, followed by moments of sensory indulgence, made no sense to me.
And it was then, searching for yoga, that I met teacher Santosh Vallury, with whom my journey began. A few years later, I started studying with teacher Glória Arieira at Vidya Mandir, in Copacabana, where I remained for several years, until the moment I was ready to go to India.
I studied at Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, in Coimbatore, in southern India, in a forest, for four and a half years, in full dedication, at the feet of my master, Swami Dayananda Saraswati.
Swami Dayananda was an incarnation of strength — a strength of transformation and light. He trained hundreds of teachers and was responsible for structuring the teaching method that occurred only organically in the Himalayas. And I was one of them.
This work that we carry out since I returned from India occurs through the guidance of teacher Glória Arieira and Swami Sākṣātkṛtānanda Saraswati, current Ācārya of the Rishikesh Ashram, with whom I studied together with Swami Dayananda in India.
In 2013, I returned to Brazil. For more than ten years I have dedicated my life to teaching Vedanta and protecting Vedic culture. We do this — my family and I — through Vishva Vidya Organization, which is not a company, but a family and a space where Vedic tradition can grow and be nourished appropriately.
As a teacher, my goal is to make Vedanta available to all people who need this knowledge and are ready to receive it. And, who knows, be able to offer this knowledge in an even better way than the way I received it.”
“The Sun does not illuminate this Self, nor the Moon and stars, nor lightning, much less this fire?! Everything shines only because it shines, by its light all this resplends.”— Muṇḍaka & Kaṭha Upaniṣads
