Glória Arieira is one of the most important figures in the history of Vedānta in Brazil. A direct student of Swami Dayananda Saraswati -- one of the greatest Vedānta teachers of the 20th century -- she dedicated her life to making this ancient tradition accessible in Portuguese.

Her path
Glória studied for years in India with Swami Dayananda, completing the rigorous traditional curriculum of Vedānta. She returned to Brazil and established the Vidya Mandir, a center dedicated to the study and teaching of Vedānta, Sanskrit, and Vedic chanting.
Her contribution
What makes Glória's work significant is not just the depth of her knowledge, but her commitment to preserving the tradition's integrity while communicating it in a Brazilian context. She did not dilute the teaching or adapt it into self-help. She taught Vedānta as it has been taught for thousands of years -- systematically, precisely, and with love.

Her influence
Many of the active Vedānta teachers in Brazil today were either directly or indirectly formed through Glória's work. She created a lineage of teachers who carry forward the same commitment to traditional methodology.
Jonas Masetti, founder of Vishva Vidya and Vedānta na Veia, studied with Glória Arieira and acknowledges her as one of his primary teachers. This is the nature of the paramparā -- the unbroken chain of teacher-to-student transmission that gives Vedānta its authority and authenticity.
Legacy
Glória Arieira demonstrated that authentic Vedānta can thrive outside of India, without losing its depth or precision. Her work opened the door for thousands of Brazilians to access genuine self-knowledge through the Vedic tradition.
Her legacy is not in books or institutions alone. It lives in the students whose lives were transformed by the teaching she faithfully transmitted.
