The first minutes of the morning set the tone for the day. If you start with your phone, news, and emails, your mind is already reactive. If you start with a few minutes of meditation, you start centered.

Why Morning
- Cleaner mind -- fewer accumulated stimuli
- Fewer excuses -- at night, "I am tired" always wins
- Cascade effect -- a good start improves every decision throughout the day
- Easier habit -- associating meditation with waking up creates automaticity
Simple Morning Routine
- Wake up -- do not pick up the phone
- Wash your face, drink water
- Sit down -- cushion, chair, couch -- anywhere
- 5-15 minutes of meditation -- start with 5, increase gradually
- Then: coffee, phone, day

The Practice
- Sit with spine straight
- Close your eyes
- Observe natural breathing -- without changing anything
- When the mind wanders (it will), return to the breath
- Do not judge. Do not analyze. Just observe
- At the end, open your eyes slowly
In the Vedic Tradition
In India, the hours before dawn (brahma-muhūrta) are considered ideal for spiritual practices. The mind is naturally more sāttvic (calm and clear) during this period.
You do not need to wake up at 4 AM. But meditating before the routine swallows you makes a real difference.
The Secret
The secret is not the quality of the morning meditation -- it is consistency. Five minutes every day is worth more than one hour on Sunday. [Start with the basics](/blog/how-to-meditate) and build from there.
