Advaita
अद्वैतनपुंसकलिङ्ग (neuter) · अ (a — negation) + द्वैत (dvaita — duality)
advaita
Fundamental Concepts
Non-duality; absence of real separation
Advaita is the central teaching of Vedānta: there are not two — only Brahman exists. The apparent multiplicity is māyā (creative power) of Brahman, not separate reality. Advaita does not deny the experience of multiplicity, but reveals that its basis is one consciousness. It is different from monism (everything is one object) — Advaita teaches that there are no real objects, only consciousness appearing as multiplicity.
