Epistemology
Non-apprehension — knowledge of the absence of something
Anupalabdhi is the means of knowledge that reveals absence (abhāva). When I look at the table and say 'there is no book here', that knowledge of absence does not come from perception (I do not perceive 'the absence'), nor from inference — it comes from anupalabdhi. This pramāṇa is accepted by Advaita Vedānta and the Bhāṭṭa school of Mīmāṃsā, but not by all Indian philosophical schools.
