Svapna

Svapna is the state in which the mind, withdrawn from the senses, projects its own world from impressions (vāsanās). In the Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣad, svapna is the second pāda of ātman: Taijasa, the luminous one, experience of subtlety. The analysis of the three states (jāgrat, svapna, suṣupti) shows that ātman remains the same observer through the three changes — the dreamer awakens, the deep sleeper awakens, but the 'I' is neither born nor dies with them.
