Purification of the mind — removal of impurities that block knowledge
Citta-śuddhi is the purification of the mind — the removal of rāga (attachment), dveṣa (aversion), and moha (delusion) that prevent the assimilation of knowledge. Karma yoga and upāsanā are the main means of citta-śuddhi. A purified mind (śuddha-antaḥkaraṇa) is like a clean mirror — it clearly reflects the truth taught by the guru. Without citta-śuddhi, the teaching is heard but does not generate transformation.
