Jīvanmukti

Jīvanmukti is liberation realized while still living in the body — opposite of videhamukti (liberation at bodily death). The jñānī has direct knowledge of ātman; his prārabdha-karma continues until exhausted, but there is no more janma, because there is no more ignorance to produce new sañcita-karma. The jīvanmukta lives in the world without being of the world: acts, eats, sleeps, but without a separate 'I'. This is the classical model of realization in Vedānta Advaita.
