Ethics and Values
Truthfulness — speaking truth in a beneficial manner
Satya as an ethical value is the practice of truthfulness — communicating what is true in a way that benefits and does not harm. The Mahābhārata teaches: speak truth, speak pleasantly, do not speak unpleasant truth aggressively. Satya is one of the five fundamental yamas. Different from satyam (ontological truth), satya as a value is a practice of conduct.
