My child doesn't stay still." Normal. Children weren't made to sit still. But meditation for children doesn't ask them to be motionless like monks. It asks for something much simpler — and fun.

Why Meditation Works for Children
Children today are overloaded with stimuli: screens, games, school, activities. The nervous system is constantly on alert. Meditation teaches the brain to slow down — and children learn this surprisingly quickly.
Techniques for Children (By Age)
3-5 years old: - Balloon breath — inhale filling your belly like a balloon, exhale emptying it - Statue — stand still for 30 seconds and notice the sounds around you - Duration: 2-3 minutes

6-9 years old: - Glitter jar — shake a jar with water and glitter. "The water is your mind, the glitter is your thoughts. When you become still, the glitter settles down." - Breath counting — count to 10 breaths - Duration: 5 minutes
10+ years old: - Observation — observe thoughts like cars passing on a road - Body scan — notice each part of the body - Duration: 5-10 minutes
Children's Meditation for Sleep
Before bed, read a short story and then: 1. "Close your little eyes" 2. "Take 3 deep breaths" 3. "Imagine a place where you feel safe" 4. "Stay there until sleep comes"
Rules for Parents
Never force — forced meditation is torture, not practice Do it together — children imitate, they don't obey Be brief — 2-5 minutes is enough Praise the effort — not the result
