Generosity — the practice of giving with detachment
Dāna is the practice of giving — sharing resources, knowledge, time, or support with those in need. The Bhagavad Gītā classifies dāna into three types: sāttvic (given at the right time and place, without expectation), rājasic (given expecting return), and tāmasic (given with contempt). Sāttvic dāna purifies the mind.
