Rebirth — the cycle of birth and death driven by karma
Punarjanma is the cycle of rebirths (saṃsāra) through which the jīva passes, propelled by unresolved karma. After death, the subtle body carrying saṃskāras transmigrates to a new body determined by prārabdha karma. The cycle continues until self-knowledge destroys the ignorance sustaining it. Mokṣa is the cessation of punarjanma.
