Qualifications

Qualified person — one who possesses the qualifications for study

Adhikārī is the qualified person for a teaching — specifically, in Vedānta, one who possesses sādhana-catuṣṭaya. It is not a value judgment about the person but the recognition that, just as quantum physics requires prerequisites, the knowledge of Brahman requires a prepared mind. The guru's role includes assessing whether the student is an adhikārī and, if not, helping them prepare.
