Fundamental Concepts
With attributes — Brahman as it appears through māyā
Saguṇa Brahman is Brahman as it appears when associated with māyā — Īśvara, the personal Lord with attributes such as omniscience, omnipotence, and compassion. Saguṇa is the aspect of Brahman accessible to devotion (bhakti) and meditation (upāsanā). From the absolute standpoint (pāramārthika), saguṇa is an appearance; from the empirical standpoint (vyāvahārika), Īśvara is real and operative.
