Fundamental Concepts
Without limiting attributes — Brahman in its absolute nature
Nirguṇa Brahman is Brahman without any limiting attributes — no form, no name, no qualities that would make it an object among objects. This does not mean void or negation — nirguṇa indicates that Brahman transcends all categorization. Sat-cit-ānanda are not 'attributes' of Brahman but its very nature (svarūpa-lakṣaṇa). Nirguṇa Brahman is the central theme of Śaṅkara's texts.
