Uparati
uparati
Qualifications
Natural withdrawal, cessation of unnecessary activities
Uparati is the third of the six virtues — the natural withdrawal from activities that do not contribute to spiritual growth. It is not forced isolation, but a genuine loss of interest in external stimuli. Like stopping watching a series not by prohibition, but because interest has been lost. It is the behavioral expression of vairāgya (inner detachment).
